"I tugged at the hem of my brand-new Hecate Hall issue blue plaid skirt (Kilt? Some sort of bizarre skirt/kilt hybrid? A skilt?)"

Hex Hall By: Rachel Hawkins
Published by: Hyperion
Available in: Paperback/Hardback/Ebook
Pages:323

Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.
By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.
As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

This book was amazing, I love stories that take place in boarding schools, and the mixture of paranormal? Loved it (: Sophie Mercer is a witch, and has caused too many problems with little spells trying to help people out, so she is being sent to Hex Hall by her warlock father, and normal human mother. But Hex Hall (Hectate Hall) isn’t all it seems, it is a boarding school for troubled magical beings. As if Sophie isn’t having enough trouble trying to figure out her magic, she also almost gets eaten by a werewolf on her first day of school, finds out she is room mated with the only vampire on campus, gets confronted by three diva witches to join some “cult” of theirs, and gets the hots for Archer..who has a girlfriend. As the school year starts to go by, things get better for Sophie, she becomes best friends with her vampire lesbian roommate Jenna, she is kind of starting to get a hang of magic, and things with Archer are heating up…but just as things start to get good…people start mysteriously dying at Hex Hall…and all fingers are pointing at Jenna…Sophie’s best friend …she knows Jenna isn’t responsible..now she just needs to find out who and what is..and fast.

This book was slightly predictable, but I think overall the ending surprised me still. Sophie to me was a very likable character, I liked her sarcasm. I also found myself loving Jenna , to me Jenna and Sophie have one of the best if not THEE best friendship out of the YA books I have read. Archer I’m not sure how I feel about him..to me he is almost annoying…but hopefully I will end up liking him in the future books.

OVERALL:      This book is very good (especially for being a witch book) I would recommend you read it if you like awesome books that have everything in them love, friendship, finding yourself, mystery, danger and oh so much more (:

----only complaint is how long the waits are between each book in this series ):
