Hey book lovers! So I know I was going to do the '7' days of covers, but you may have noticed I skipped yesterday and didn't post anything for it, and that was cause first off, all the covers I had for the category I didn't like that much, and two because I was doing a lot of other stuff and posting it sorta slipped my mind (; SO we are going to skip yesterday and just go on with awesome day 3! Keep in mind since I am a US book blogger, I did not include any UK/AUS/Other covers. Also keep in mind I am mainly a YA book blogger, so these are all YA novels (:  Now lets get on to those top covers..todays catagory is unique covers (:

Top 5 Unique Covers of 2011

Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey-add to goodreads here

Why this is on the top 5 of unique covers?

  • What is this? Light blue and pink?! Where is the black?!? HA this is exactly one of the main reason I find the cover a unique cover for 2011, 2011 had a very large number of dark covers, so in turn Cold Kiss is awesome for having pretty light colors
  • Font, ah look at that font, have you seen it on a cover before? ya neither have I and it is gorgeous!
  • the close up of the mouth, I know of a few covers that have done the close up on the mouth, and I feel Cold Kiss though takes the cake of close-up mouth covers!

Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck-add on goodreads here

why is this book on the top 5?
  • ah this whole series has wonderful covers, they are insanely beautiful, anyways on to the unique-ness of it
  • the close up of the tiger (Ren) is awesome, I love it, I haven't seen really any books in 2011 that have an animal on the cover and Splinter made an awesome decision with doing that with this whole series
  • these covers actually go with the book PERFECTLY, alot of 2011 covers normally have nothing to do with the actual book itself I feel, but with the Tiger's Saga, each book goes with the series
  • the lightly Indian imprint is beautiful, same with the font that matches the whole theme of the book

Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts-add to goodreads here

why this made the top 5 covers?

  • this cover really just draws me in, in so many different ways
  • first off, the eyes! Those eyes really feel like there staring at you, I love the vibrant blue color and the yellow rim to her eyes, I love the intense look she has, I love the cracks that are on her eyes
  • the sepia tone to this cover looks great, most covers do black and white, so it is nice seeing one that took a different route, although black and white may have looked better, but still it is unique
  • I love the faded city and people, and the crack in the ground, it really makes you want to know what is going on inside this book

Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake-add to goodreads here

why this cover made the top 5?

  • ah I love this cover, because I don't know about the rest of you, but 2011 covers were insanely popular with girls in dresses...and Anna is also in a dress..BUT they made it creepy on this cover and I love it
  • the detail is amazing, the smoke, the stone like looking crack on Anna's back, the blood on Anna's dress, the cuts on Anna's legs, the fog, and the color splash used for the blood and petals/leaves
  • seriously whoever put this cover together, bravo

#1-Top Unique Cover of 2011!

Envy by Gregg Olsen-add to goodreads here

why this cover made number1 ?!I own this book and let me just tell you it looks incredible! This is the only YA book I have seen that looks so eerie and creepy yet you can't help, but totally love the cover. The vibrant green is one of my favorite things, since the book is called Envy..the cover being green actually goes with the title of the book, the font...the font is beautiful, it looks wonderful on the cover! Last but not least...the girl in the tub...this scene is actually in the book! So again this cover really goes with what the book was about..with that said Envy takes the 2011 unique covers cake!

  • Did I mention that both Tiger's Curse and Envy are Splinter publishing??? YA! Splinter hasn't come out with too many YA books, but I can already tell they are going to be the best covers ever! The whole way they put their books together is beautiful, they make the pages a very crisp white color, they had special font headers for chapters, they add different effects to the covers, (some parts will be shiny other parts will be matte) they make sure the covers match the books, they are just really beautiful books, you can tell Splinter puts alot of time into their books. (:
Well that is all for today's stop of Top Unique Covers of 2011, please keep in mind I do not know about every book in the YA world, so I am sure I am missing some equally awesome unique covers, but to me these ones take the cake of 2011! Come back tomorrow and check out the top 5 Couple covers of 2011! (:

I never heard of Tiger's Curse until I was in a book store, walked by it and instantly stopped to pick it up. It definitely has an eye catching cover.

Good choices! Love the envy one also! Is it any good?

Envy and Anna Dressed in Blood are not so unique for me. They are the usual girls without face on the cover. But the other three are fantastic!

Dark Inside was such an AWESOME book. And it wasn't until after I finished it, that I REALLY looked and the cover and noticed the black viens in the eyes. I wanted to slap my forhead, because I had been reading about them all through the book, and didn't realize it. D'oh.

I agree with you on Tiger's Curse and Cold Kiss. They are pretty unique. I never noticed the absence of black on Cold Kiss and the font is fabulous.

I wouldn't say Envy is the most unique, but it is definatley the creepiest.

Sherry- Envy is really good, very different since it is a YA true crime novel, so it takes a little while to get used to the writing style, but I really liked it !(:

ha, and ya I feel this post is more unique, and top creepy covers. Envy got number one for being so creepy, which in turn makes it unique since most covers are always just trying to look pretty with their girls in pretty dresses lol (:

i like what they did with cold kiss. i am not a fan of close-ups of people, especially mouths. it grosses me out...but cold kiss isn't gross, it's beautiful. i LOVE anna dressed in blood, and envy. creepy, yet detailed and beautiful!
