Review
Aden raised a brow. "Frost as a Band-aid brand," he murmured, turning around. "Somehow, I don't think parents would take well to the skulls and dismembered organs on the bandages, versus cute fluffy bunnies and My Little Ponies."
(goodreads blurb) The strength of Sloane’s heart is about to be put to the ultimate test. After the Eclipse – the night vampires began openly slaughtering human victims –everything changed. Out of fear, the government salvaged what remained of the human population and enclosed them in massive, security-laden cities called White Sectors, while marking the vampire infested territory as Red Sectors.
When seventeen-year-old Sloane McAllister’s twin brother disappears, she seems to be the only one who thinks he isn’t dead, and vows to stop at nothing to find him. Gathering her courage, she braves the Red Sector to search for clues to his whereabouts. By chance, she encounters Aden, a handsome, charismatic vampire with a hidden agenda. He turns Sloane against her will, and whisks her away to his underground city. Enemies quickly become friends as Sloane struggles against her attraction to Aden, and resists her growing loyalties to the creatures that ruined her life. But the vampires themselves are the least of her problems. The city is harboring a devastating secret, one that could change the tide of the war and threaten to destroy everything Sloane has come to believe in.
Heart-stopping action and scorching romance collide in this dystopian, urban fantasy thriller.(end blurb)
Just when you think vampire books have been played out here comes this amazing book. This is a start to what could be a fantastic series. I loved it. The plot is something new and fresh. It is very well written and unique.
Sloane is a very awesome character. One of my favorites I've read about. She is strong, smart and totally kick butt character. She doesn't immediately fall for the boy. She fights against all she thinks is wrong. Aden I love him. He is tough, sweet and so adorable. Yes he did a bad thing to Sloane but I believe in the end it will be the best thing that ever happened to her. There are some other characters that make this book that much enjoyable but you need to read it to see.
Now I know I already said this but I love this book. It is a must read. It combines YA, dystOpia and paranormal perfectly. It has lots of action, a romance I can't get enough of and a huge shocker. You really need to read this book. I give it a four just because sometimes it moved to fast. I wanted it to slow down. Now go read what I see to be a future great vampire series.

Alex Kosmitoras’s life has never been easy. Just when he thinks he'll never have a shot at a normal life, a new girl from India moves into town. Simmi is smart, nice, and actually wants to be friends with Alex. Plus she smells like an Almond Joy bar. Yes, sophomore year might not be so bad after all.
Unfortunately, Alex is in store for another new arrival—an unexpected and often embarrassing ability to “see” the future. Try as he may, Alex is unable to ignore his visions, especially when they begin to suggest that Simmi is in danger. With the help of the mysterious psychic next door and new friends who come bearing gifts of their own, Alex must embark on a journey to change his future.

Review
“They say that right before you die your whole life flashes before you – a medley of your own personal greatest hits. Well then, I must be about to live, because events that haven’t happened yet are constantly pushing themselves into my head.”When I was contacted by the lovely Emlyn Chand to review her novel Farsighted I knew I couldn’t turn down the opportunity, and I couldn’t be happier that I took this on for review! Emlyn has an amazing way with words, I found myself completely and totally captivated by the story of Alex and Emlyn’s writing seemed to just flow right threw to the end so beautifully.

What a great debut! This novel was the perfect first book to what I can already tell is going to be an amazing series! With Alex being blind it is incredible how Emlyn was able to make everything so vivid…even though Alex never describes how anything looks..I could easily imagine everything with the descriptions of smells, hearing and touch. It only goes to show how great of an author Emlyn is, even though her story would be a difficult one to write, she did it amazingly AND still made it an amazing adventure with new challenges around every corner for a group of very unique characters.
“Note to self: don’t throw things at girls.”This book had so many twists and turns, every time I thought I was connecting the dots, another curveball would be thrown in and leave me completely perplexed! I loved the adventure and I loved not knowing where everything was going, the majority of YA novels coming out are very predictable, so to say the least Farsighted was a nice breath of fresh air that really kept me guessing all the way till the end.
Even more than the adventure, I loved the group of characters. They were each so different and each their own person, Simmi was the kind hearted gentle person that still knew how to stand up for herself, and Shapri…don’t even get me started on her I absolutely adore her! She is so edgy and has such spunk, she wouldn’t take anyone’s crap! Deep down though you can tell Shapri has feelings (as much as she tries to deny it!) and is a warm hearted person, just rough on the edges is all! Emlyn put together an amazing trio that I cannot wait to see what happens to in ‘Open Heart’ (Farisghted #2) (especially with the romance(;)
The adventure and mystery wrapped into Farsighted will leave the readers on the edge of their seat never knowing where the story is going to go next. Emlyn has an amazing way with words and her novel Farsighted is one that should be read by everyone.
“There are two types of visions. Those that will happen no matter what, and those that can be stopped. Now more than ever, I wish I could tell them apart.”
-Did I mention that I am really cool and get secret info about the rest of the series?? Ya, let’s just say this series is going to be EPIC and you need to start it now!

Hey bookies! Today continues my 'Best of 2011' posts! If you didn't check out my yesterdays posts of 'Best of 2011' where I showed my favorite Vampire, Werewolves, and Fairies (check it out here) These posts are basically gonna be going on for the next week or so and each day will have different themes, for each theme I will show my top 2 of 2011! Yesterday I did three themes all going around what I believe are the top paranormal creatures in fiction. Today though I am just doing one...and this theme is the 'Leave the Light On' edition! These are two books that gave me the chills and creeps!
These two books were my top of 2011 when it comes to being a scary read/creepy/etc! These two though were picked for totally different reasons!
Envy by Gregg Olsen: Envy wasn't really a scary read...but it had such a creepy feel to it. While reading it I kept getting the chills like someone was watching me or something. The whole town of Port Gamble gives me the creeps now..after reading this story it just seems like one of those towns that comes of as a cute little historic town ..but really it has the darkest secrets underneath and everyone seems to have an eerie feel to them. This story I feel gave me a more realistic scare...a scare that the most unexpected people can have such dark secrets. And even though this book gives me the creeps beyond belief..I am deff going to be reading book 2 ! Hoping book two (Betrayal) will give me twice the chills!
The Deepest Cut by J.A. Templation: The Deepest Cut was a scary read, down right scary. I for one although I find the movies good and frightful, hate demon/ghost like things...it scares the hell outta me. Laria is the scariest one yet too, she is creepy and scary and just straight vicious..she terrorizes Riley and her whole family. At one point in the book she even throws Riley around her room as if she is a rag doll..this book was just scary, but oh so good!
These two books were for sure, hands down the top 2 books when it comes to leaving the light on, not only were these books frightful they are also amazing, and I would recommend them to anyone. Gregg and J.A. are both superb writers, these books go out of the norm for YA books, and I applaud them both for doing such a fantastic job!

Chosen Ones by Tiffany Truitt
Coming: April 2012

What if you were mankind’s last chance at survival?
Sixteen-year-old Tess lives in a compound in what was once the Western United States, now decimated after a devastating fourth World War. But long before that, life as we knew it had been irrevocably changed, as women mysteriously lost the ability to bring forth life. Faced with the extinction of the human race, the government began the Council of Creators, meant to search out alternative methods of creating life. The resulting artificial human beings, or Chosen Ones, were extraordinarily beautiful, unbelievably strong, and unabashedly deadly.
Life is bleak, but uncomplicated for Tess as she follows the rigid rules of her dystopian society, until the day she begins work at Templeton, the training facility for newly created Chosen Ones. There, she meets James, a Chosen One whose odd love of music and reading rivals only her own. The attraction between the two is immediate in its intensity—and overwhelming in its danger.
But there is more to the goings-on at Templeton than Tess ever knew, and as the veil is lifted from her eyes, she uncovers a dark underground movement bent not on taking down the Chosen Ones, but the Council itself. Will Tess be able to stand up to those who would oppress her, even if it means giving up the only happiness in her life?
wow, isn't that cover just gorgeous? I love everything about it! The girls dress, the cracked ground. She is obviously insanely pretty too and I love her hair, and of course the font is amazing! Entangled publishing is really breaking threw with some awesome cover these days! Not only is this cover beautiful, but the book..wow it sounds awesome! I can't wait to read this one!
What do you think about Chosen Ones?! (:

Hey book lovers!! Today I'm gonna start my favorite books of 2011 posts! Each day for the next week or so I will list my favorite books of 2011 in a certain topics (for example today will be vampire/werewolves/fairies) I will show TWO of my favorites for each different catagory! Then when I'm all done I'm gonna do my top 10 favorite out of all the books I read in 2011!
~Click covers to go to goodreads page~
VAMPIRES
Ah Vampires, they are probably the most known in the paranormal world and one of the most popular. I for one am picky when it comes to my vampires books, so I knew right away when it came to my favorite...it had to be Descended by Blood by Angeline Kace, and Captivated by Deb Apodaca! Both of these books I would recommend to anyone looking for some amazing action, romance, suspense and all around epicness! I love both of these books immensely!
Werewolves
Ah werewolves, now werewolves are a little bit odd to me in books..I feel all the werewolf stories I read are either very bland and nothing special..or they are like The Dirty Blood Series, and the Nightshade Series and are totally awesome! Dirty Blood by Heather Hildenbrand and Nightshade by Andrea Cremer are both the firsts in their series and while the first books were amazing, the second books-Cold Blood (Dirty Blood#2) and Wolfsbane (Nightshade#2) were even better! If your looking for an amazing werewolf story, I wouldn't recommend any other books then Dirty Blood and Nightshade!
Fairies
Fairies!!! AH! I love fairies...seriously my favorite paranormal ever! This was a hard one to pick for because I love basically any fae books I read, so to narrow it down just to TWO!? Killed me! I am happy to say though that my choices were The Iron King by Julie Kagawa (this is actually my favorite series) and Bridger by Megan Curd, both of these authors are amazing writers and these two books could not be an better then they are! I completely adore these two series (although I am still waiting for book two of Bridger) Hands down if you want an AWESOME fae book, these are the two you need to get!
Those are my favorites of 2011 when it comes to Vampires, Werewolves, and Fairies! What are yours?!
check back tomorrow to see more of my 2011 favorites!

Review
“This is not a laughing matter. Keegan every time I see you I feel like I am on an elevator that has dropped. I think about you all the time. Maybe fate has stepped in and broken the bond so we can be together..”
Conflicted the second novel of Keegan’s Chronicles was everything I wanted it to be, and oh so much more. Julia Crane is indeed a talented author that knows how to keep her readers attention, with her on the edge of your seat reads!
Conflicted picks up where Coexist left off, Keegan died..but was brought back to life with dark magic. Everyone is so happy that Keegan is alive, but since she was brought back with dark magic she herself is now darker..and worst her bond with Rourke has been broken. Keegan doesn’t know what to do..she wants her bond back with Rourke at first, but when she finds out her long time crush Donald has been crushing on her from afar she can’t help, but fall for him. Now secretly her brother is putting together a plan to get Keegan’s bond back with Rourke…but will Keegan want it back now that she has Donald?
This book was even better than the first! In the beginning of Conflicted all I could think about was how heartbroken I was that Rourke and Keegan’s bond had been broken, Rourke was so hurt and wanted Keegan back SO badly, but as time went on I really started to feel for Donald and Keegan’s relationship! I still think Keegan being with Rourke is how it should end and that they are truly meant for each other, but at the same time Donald is not at all a bad guy! I think Julia adding such a development with Donald and Keegan was a great touch to the story and deff put me on the edge of my seat! Readers will have their hearts torn in two over this love triangle! (I personally am team Rourke (;)
“There was no one else for him. Keegan was the only one. He had to win her back.”
Besides Keegan and Rourke’s bond being broken after her coming back to life, Keegan is also darker now. In Coexist Keegan was such a sweet and fun girl, in Conflicted she still is, but now things are happening when she gets angry, things she can’t control. All I can say is I hope for Keegan’s sake that she gets her darker side under control before something really bad happens. I don’t know what’s going to happen in book three, but let’s hope Julia (author) decides to help Keegan out!
The ending threw me by surprise! I still to this day have no idea how I feel about it…I want to say I am happy about it..but at the same time it left Keegan so upset and hurt that I feel bad being happy about it! I just can’t wait to see where things go in book three!
All in all, if you loved Coexist, expect to be completely blown away by Conflicted!

So I normally do Waiting on Wednesdays, but lately I am kind tired with it...SO I am switching over to doing Parajunkee's new meme called "Desperately Wanting Wednesday" it is like "Waiting on Wednesday", but instead of just being able to do books that are not released yet, you pick a book you really want! Released or not released! (: Go to Parajunkee to see the details and her DWW posts! (also DWW has an awesome button!)
Dancia Lewis is far from popular. And that's not just because of her average grades or her less-than-glamorous wardrobe. In fact, Dancia's mediocrity is a welcome cover for her secret: whenever she sees a person threatening someone she cares about, things just...happen. Cars skid. Structures collapse. Usually someone gets hurt. So Dancia does everything possible to avoid getting close to anyone, belieiving this way she can supress her powers and keep them hidden.
This week I am desperately wanting...
The Candidates by Inara Scott
Dancia Lewis is far from popular. And that's not just because of her average grades or her less-than-glamorous wardrobe. In fact, Dancia's mediocrity is a welcome cover for her secret: whenever she sees a person threatening someone she cares about, things just...happen. Cars skid. Structures collapse. Usually someone gets hurt. So Dancia does everything possible to avoid getting close to anyone, belieiving this way she can supress her powers and keep them hidden.
But when recruiters from the prestigious Delcroix Academy show up in her living room to offer her a full scholarship, Dancia's days of living under the radar may be over. Only, Delcroix is a school for diplomats' kids and child geniuses--not B students with uncontrollable telekinetic tendencies. So why are they treating Dancia like she's special? Even the hottest guy on campus seems to be going out of his way to make Dancia feel welcome.
And then there's her mysterious new friend Jack, who can't stay out of trouble. He suspects something dangerous is going on at the Academy and wants Dancia to help him figure out what. But Dancia isn't convinced. She hopes that maybe the recruiters know more about her "gift" than they're letting on. Maybe they can help her understand how to use it...But not even Dancia could have imagined what awaits her behind the gates of Delcroix Academy.
Ah I want this book so badly! It sounds amazing...I love love LOVE books that take place in academies/boarding school/etc so this book would be perfect for that!
What do you want this Wednesday?!(:
