Hey book lovers! Today I have an awesome post! First off we have a three author interview, AND a giveaway for an ebook copy of each of their books...that's THREE awesome books up for grabs! Check out the interview and then to enter to win the books just comment the post with a way to contact you! (: Don't forget to check out the KINDLE giveaway HERE.
1. If you could describe your novel Pyxis in 3 words, what words would you use?
Destiny, dreams, magic.
2. What inspired you to write Pyxis?
The first seed of the idea for the book was the pyxis box, with bottles of mysterious colored liquids that influenced people’s emotions. I wanted to write a story with strong magical elements, but I love sci-fi too, so that’s where the two dimensions came in. I liked the story possibilities created by having two worlds, with a weakness in between them that could be a source of danger and power.
3. What brought you to the paranormal genre?
I started really getting YA paranormal novels before I wrote Pyxis – books by Amanda Hocking, Maggie Stiefvater, and Richelle Mead, to name a few - and I’m sure those books played a part in the genre I ended up writing. I love that the paranormal genre gives me all kinds of freedom to create strange and interesting powers and situations.
4. Do you have a writing process you go through? If so what is it?
I’m trying to get more disciplined about making notes on the scenes I want to write before I actually start writing them. Thinking them through first makes them flow so much easier! Caffeine is usually part of the process these days, too, lol.
5. What can your future readers expect from the Pyxis series?
Readers have given me a lot of, um *feedback* about how I left Pyxis hanging at the end, and the funny thing is, I’m really against big old cliffhangers! I love that everyone’s so eager for the next book, though, hee hee. I introduced a lot of mysteries and questions in Pyxis, and Book 2, Alight, will satisfy a lot of curiosity. In the first two chapters, you’ll learn what the pyxis liquids are for and who the second Guardian is. A new love interest, plenty of revelations, and some big confrontations will make it a well-paced read, I think. The third and final book, Valence, will culminate in a big battle, and you’ll finally learn who Corinne ends up with, as well as more about the ultimate source of all the magic in the story.
1. If you could describe your novel Airel in 3 words, what words would you use?
Aaron: Heart Wrenching Epicness. Lol
Chris: heartfelt, honest, clean
2. What inspired you to write Airel?
Aaron: I wanted a book that I took the reader in and got them hooked and after they were so in love, I was going to kill her. Lol, I know, mean and cruel. But that was the first idea.
Chris: A mutual friend of Aaron and me suggested we co-write, and when I read the MS from that perspective I was really stoked. I quite enjoyed the Twilight series of books, especially the first person POV of the heroine, so I jumped at the chance to help create a different kind of coolness with Airel.
3. What brought you to the paranormal genre?
Aaron: I have something paranormal in all my books; I do not think I could write a book without it. Something about the supernatural that is just so cool.
Chris: I’ve always liked the idea of mystery and the unexplainable; the question with no answer, so to speak. So it’s a good fit for me.
4. Do you have a writing process you go through? If so what is it?
Aaron: I get my coffee, put on Pandora and start. I run and gun so no outline or anything, just the story in my head and heart.
Chris: Aaron gives me the rough draft and then I rewrite it, adding my own bits here and there, tweaking this and that. We go back and forth until we both like it. Sometimes I have trouble restraining myself, so that’s why we have Diary Series of books (starting with The Marsburg Diary), which go into more depth with some of the ideas about angels having a book of their lives.
5. What can your future readers expect from the Airel saga?
Aaron: Some cool fighting, more twists and a lot of stress. I like to keep everyone guessing.
Chris: If you like plot twists and drama, fight scenes and impossible abilities, adventure and exotic places, you’re gonna want to be a fan of this series. Aaron and I are working hard to entertain your socks off.
Fire. Masks. Love.
2. What inspired you to write Arson?
I put a lot of the personal me into this story and these characters. My parents split the year I got the idea for Arson, plus the normal pressures of teenage existence in high school and dealing with what’s next didn’t help. I mixed my love for superheroes and the supernatural with heartache and regret and within it all a love story I think everyone can root for. In short, dysfunction, love, and fire.
3. What brought you to the paranormal genre?
I’ve always been fascinated with it. Since I was a kid, I loved sci-fi stuff, creepy stuff, superhero stuff, anything that didn’t really fit neatly into the “real world.” And if the writer could make it feel real in spite along with the paranormal, even better. So far, every one of my novels has had something supernatural or other worldly in it. It’s a lot of fun.
4. Do you have a writing process you go through? If so what is it?
I do. It typically goes like this: Talk about writing. Think about writing. Talk about it some more. Get a really cool idea/concept that I know I gotta write. Eat a sandwich. Watch Transformers. Then decide to write. Typically…
5. What can your future readers expect from the Arson series?
Book one is a lot about character-building and world-building. I invest a lot of time into telling you who these people are, letting you in on their fear and failings and their hopes too so you give a crap about them, and there’s a very simple plot that moves the story along. Boy meets girl with mask and dysfunctional family, refuses to tell her his secret until he…well, read the story. Book two (Ashes) takes it to another level. It peels back some of the real and enters another realm entirely with new characters, new fears, and some answers along with new questions. There’s intense action, a plot that involves the entire world, others with powers, and a love triangle. Book three will pick up where two leaves off. So what are you waiting for? Get started!
Thank you so much to K.C., Aaron , Chris, and Estevan for taking the time to do an interiew with YA-Aholic!!! (:

Corinne lives an average teenage life working at her dad’s cafe, hanging out with her best friend, and trying to forget a falling-out with her almost-boyfriend Mason. Things take a strange turn when she uses her late grandmother’s food dyes for a bake sale, and her customers suddenly find her irresistibly alluring. Then she discovers she and Mason are haunted by the same dreams of a dark force that consumes everything in its path. Pursued by shadowy figures and a crazy woman with secrets from the past, Corinne must find out who her grandmother really was. In her quest to unravel her family’s history, she learns she is destined to protect this world--and the dark world of her dreams. She races to find the answers she seeks before her nightmares break free.

Airel is a story about an angel who falls so deeply in love with a woman that he chooses to fall from heaven to be with her. She gives birth to a daughter in Arabia, 1250BC. The girl is pursued ferociously, relentlessly by an enemy in the deepest darkness. In present day Boise, Idaho is just a girl: Airel. She's just your average high school student...who turns out to be anything but average. It's because of who she is, because of her ancestry, because of her lineage. Past and present crash in on each other in the final pages as what has been twisted comes dangerously unraveled.

Arson Gable feels like a freak. He can create fire. He never asked for it. He never wanted it. But he can't shut it off. Before now, three things were true: he both loved and despised his grandmother; his life was going nowhere; and he was alone. But when a strange girl--who feels more normal behind a mask than inside her own skin--moves in next door, Arson hopes to find something he's never had: purpose. Using what he fears most about himself, Arson must face his consuming past and confront the nightmare that is his present as he walks the fine line between boy and monster.
