Welcome to the first 'Still on my Mind' post over here at YA-Aholic! Every Thursday I (and hopefully you too!) will feature a book that you read months or even YEARS ago that was so good (or so scary/unique/funny..etc) that it is 'Still on my (your) Mind!' I hope you join in! If you want to find out more about Still on my Mind meme click here!

This week the book that is still on my mind is...

Formats Available: Hardback/Paperback/Ebook
Purchase The Foretelling: Amazon . Amazon UK . Book Depo

Rain is a girl of the Amazon tribe of women warriors, the daughter of Queen Alina, living in a time of blood and fear. As the future leader of her people, she must seek and hold fast to her inner warrior. But amid the horrors of the battlefield, Rain is startled and mystified by the first stirrings of mercy towards the enemy, men within her. What she encounters along the poignant and harrowing path toward her destiny a kind young man, a strange recurrent prophecy, and a condemned baby brother lead her, against odds, to forge mercy, love, and peace.

Why this is still on my mind?

I read this book when I was 14 (roughly 6 years ago), back then I never read a book and enjoyed it. The only time I read books was when it was required for a project. I don't know what made me pick up The Foretelling, but I am so glad I did. I was obsessed with this book, I read it in one day, and then read it again a few weeks later! I have read this book a total of about 5 times, and although if I re-read it now maybe it wouldn't be a favorite, it is Still on my Mind for being the one book that caught my attention when no books could. After reading The Foretelling I also read Alice Hoffman's book Green Angel, which I also ended up loving! I will have to re-read this soon and review it for you guys I think, I am curious to see if I still would like it as much (:

I love the first book that really made you think, "Hey maybe I can be one of those people who reads." I was a none reader for the longest time too, I didn't even read my school required reading most of the time. For me Heart of the Dragon was my wow book before I enjoyed reading. I still need to buy it again, I'd love to re-read it. :)

Here's my Still on My Mind. :) http://thegirlwiththegreenshovel.blogspot.com/2012/05/still-on-my-mind-2.html

It's funny how some books stick with you. Also funny is that one book can change a person completely, making them a reader when before they really weren't. Ahh, the power of words.

This book is new to me..but i loved hearing how it grabbed you and helped spark your love of reading

I knew I was forgetting something! *smacks forehead* This was it, haha. I love the idea for this feature and I love the books that grabs you like that one.

I think the one that made the most impression on me, besides the whole Harry Potter series, is His Dark Materials. I still think about them today, remembering their stories and re-reading them whenever I can.
