Welcome welcome to my '5 Things' post. This is a feature exclusive to YA-Aholic that I post at random and it's always 5 things that _____. These lists will not be in any type of order. I decided to start doing this cause I like to rant...ALOT in person..but when I try to type up a rant of things that I either love or hate...it just ends up very messy, so I figured doing a list would be much easier (:
Lets do this..
1.) Insta Love
The ONLY time I am okay with insta love is if there is some sort of prophecy or destiny type of thing going on between the two love birds...and even then it still semi bothers me. Insta LUST I can deal with cause that is believable, but if you're trying to convince me that two people love eachother after the first time meeting, please get the hell outta here.
2.) Flip Floppers in Love Triangles
Okay, okay...so I actually really enjoy love triangles (I know shame on me!) But there is one type of love triangle I really can't stand and that is when the girl is making out with both guys...and then every other second she changes her mind. OH his kiss was so magical, how could I ever be without him? OH nevermind I just kissed the other guy and he had so much passion and.....SHUT THE HELL UP! Girl, focus on your messed up self THEN worry about what guy you want to makeout with more.
3.) Perfect male love interests
UGH..this annoys me so much. A few months back I remember seeing a picture that said "Boys in books are so much better" and I couldn't help, but laugh at it and think "well ya no shit, boys in books are works of FICTION" They're not real!!! Alot of YA books are the WORST at this...they make male interests that are PERFECT...they say the right thing, at the right time, and never do anything wrong. Never once make a mistake, while the main character who is a girl messes up all the time. Dear authors....make your characters realistic!!! I know you want to make a swoon worthy male character...but at least have him slip up every once and awhile! People are not perfect, meaning your characters shouldn't be either.
4.) Overly forgiving/Doormat Characters
This annoys the hell outta me! A character does something AWFUL to their 'significant' other...then the other one forgives them so easily. I'm not talking little slip ups either like oh sorry I forgot your favorite color, no I'm talking cheating, lying or even abusive behavior. Now this is a problem for me in any romance book I read, but it especially pisses me off when it's in YA novels. Why? Because I don't think it's okay to teach young adults that just cause you 'love' (I use that word loosely) someone you should forgive them for acting horrible, if I ever have children someday I would hope they wouldn't let some gorgeous girl or hot guy treat them like crap and just forgive them because they supposedly 'love' them. Now I'm not saying the horrible person should NEVER be forgiven, I just hate when characters forgive way too quickly and way too easily.
5.) Stalker love
I don't think this is sexy. I'm sorry, but if some guy I don't know started showing up outside my house, at my work and just popping up everywhere I am. I would be calling the police, or pepper spraying his ass or at least running away some where far. I don't care HOW good looking he is, that is no excuse to be a creep.

That's it for this list! I have read alot of books that have these 5 things in them, and still enjoyed them. So this is not me bashing books that have these things. No one get their panties in a twist (:

Oh my goodness, I agree with all of these things! The insta-love kills me sometimes. Oh god, all of it. I could go on and on about how much I agree with you on these things. When ALL FIVE are in one book? Kill me now. LOL
Stalking love gets me everytime! I would be freaked out if some guy was just THERE in my peripheral all the freakin' time!
Not read much with Doormat loves but everything else I've seen crop up a lot!
Awesome post! I love what you said in #2, too funny and so true! It's like, you're not even all that, honey. A week ago they didn't even know you existed. Sit down somewhere.
I agree with every single point you made. Awesome post =)
Oh man, I so agree with you, especially about #2!! I have gone on several rants about characters like that. It's incredibly annoying!
Completely agree with this list. And on the note of perfect guys, why is it that guys in books can read women's minds? Come on, in real life the guy would be tearing his hair out trying to figure out why the dumb girl is sad/mad ect...
Lol...you said it girl!
Great post! I agree with this.
Great post, all of those get to me but I cannot take flip floppers!! So annoying.

2, 3, and 4, yes yes yes! I don't know if this really fits here, but one thing I've noticed in a lot of YA lately is lust being described as electric or electricity between the two. It's driving me bonkers!
AMEN! Lol love this post:)
Something that might encompass a couple of your points is Uber-Cliches... if a book is loaded with cliches, I want nothing to do with it because the point of reading the book is completely lost to me. Another is little to no character development. I have no patience for book pro/antagonists who never learn when it's obvious that they couldn't have been that dense...you know? Unless it's supposed to be one of those smh they'll-never-learn characters with comedic intentions. Sigh, my poor nerves...LOL
Sorry about that heehee>< Mini-rant over
